The Technology Behind
The active ingredients in the core of the SMARTBEADS® are encased by the so-called “protective coating” method of a semipermeable membrane.
This creates pores due to the dissolution of parts of the membrane, which allow the entry of liquid into the core and thus the dissolution of the active ingredient and the diffusion of the dissolved active substance from the system. 1
By this nature of the outer membrane, a controlled release of the core drug can be achieved. 2
The dissolution rate is determined by the nature of the outer membrane. This is regulated depending on the active ingredient and the respective dissolution profile, which ensures the protection oft he active ingredient from uncontrolled physiological and chemical decomposition.3
